How much did Kabza De Small win at Metro FM Awards?

Kabza De Small and Mthunzi’s work on the Isimo album included Imithandazo which cleaned up at the MMAs. The two musicians, Kabza De Small and Mthunzi won Best Produced Album, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year and Best Amapiano. R300k may not all be due to Kabza De Small

The song of the year involved seven artists including Mthunzi and Kabza De Small. Assuming the cash prize is split evenly they may each get R43 000. Netizen speculated that it should be split according to contribution.

@siphoJay1 said:

“He must share according to the split sheet of the song, if you contributed 2% you must get 2% of R50k.”

@JoeFerg58678029 assumed Kabza would be generous:

“I think he’ll give it to them, because 300K is probably what he makes in one weekend or more.”

@NeontleM encouraged the artists to share:

“Tlamile aba share’la vele… ke teamwork (They must share it’s team work.)”

Kabza De Small’s MMA wins ruffle feathers

Some MMA viewers thought that other sings deserved to win instead of Imithandazo. Tyler ICU’s Mnike was a hot contender for Song of the Year. Netizens debated whether Kabza’s win was deserved.

@mr_mabetwa was not happy:

“Mmh. Yah neh. Mnike went global last year and exploded on tiktok. And was second or third last year in terms of the new years eve countdown. Iplani was the number one song on the new years eve count down and was literally everywhere, everywhere. Ayi bafwethu. *shrug*”

@I_Know_Ball4K tweeted:

“So someone wins Artist of the year but not Song? Then why did they become best artist. Artist of the year is not Best female. Song of the year is the song that was nowhere last year. Mnike, Keneilwe, Iplan e.t.c haike I rest my case.”

@ThatoG_Mosebi insisted:

“iPlan was way bigger than this song.”

@NathiTheHustler also advocated for iPlan:

“This song was nowhere to be found in Grove and radio station in festive , how did it win over iPlan? Wait awards in Mpumalanga and Kazbza is from Mpumalanga so we understand.”

@Culture05 did not agree with the Kabza win:

“I thought it will be Mnike or Iplani because the songs where very popular last year..Yaah nee!”
