Oprah took the opportunity and utilized the attention that her new look had given her to talk about the disrespect that plus-sized women face on a daily basis. Winfrey also stressed just how much she’s had to do to achieve her new look.

“I intend to keep it that way,” she said, adding, “My highest weight was 237 kg. I don’t know if there is another public person whose weight struggle has been exploited as much as mine over the years.”

According to People, Oprah further explained:

“It’s that thing where people are like, ‘Let me show you the gloves. Would you like to look at the handbags? Because we know that there’s nothing in here for you.’ There is a condescension. There is stigma.”‘
