No, Original Black Motion isn’t reunited, SA invested as Smol discusses new drop with Mörda and past beef

Smol of Black motion discussed where he stands with Mörda after they stopped being band mates. Mörda (Bongani Mohosana) and Smol (Roy Thabo Mabogwane), were the original duo that made the beloved band Black Motion before they split

Fans of the original Black Motion are in for a treat in May 2024. Smol and Mörda will release Takala Zwino together again.

Is Black Motion back together?

According to Sowetan Live Smol and Mörda collaborated on a new song, Takala Zwino which also features Afrikan Roots and Deejay Buckz. Mörda will be on the song as a solo artist with Black Motion (Smol and Problem Child).

The song will be released on 10 May 2024 and it is a befitting project for Smol and Mörda as it is centered on their close friendship and having good times. Smol explained the meaning behind the song:

“[Its about how] nothing else matters but the present moment with your inner people or bloodline. It means that through anything, we will make it… despite what we go through, my day one is still my day one.”

Why did Smol stay as Black Motion?

Smol also discussed the time when his then partner Mörda embarked on a solo career. Smol reflected on how he felt like he had to start from scratch. He said it made him to realise that he wanted to preserve the image of Black Motion instead of going on a solo career:

“I also look at music groups such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo who have been in existence for over 40 years… there’s no way they didn’t have problems or others wanting to leave the group. So, during that time, I looked for solutions more than anything else.”
