Microsoft was trending on X following a technical glitch. The software giant’s systems were all down and people took to social media to discuss the disaster.

What went wrong with Microsoft?

On 14 March 2024 Microsoft suffered a service outage in Europe, Middle and Eastern Africa. The software company brought production to a halt in many companies.

The technical problem affected services including Microsoft 365 teams and Azure. In addition, Vodacom, MTN and other network services have been experiencing interruptions.

What caused my Microsoft service interruption?

According to MyBroadband, WIOCC group business development head Darren Bedford has explained that the service interruption was due to under cables on Africa’s west coast to that I experiencing outages.

Network giant Vodacom confirmed that they are also in internet outages which may be due to damage to undersea cables.

While Microsoft is likely to lose a lot of money due to the outages some people on social media expressed at the breakdown was a blessing in disguise.
