South Africa’s soccer team made the country proud after facing Benin in Durban at Moses Mabida Stadium

Percy Tau headed Bafana Bafana’s victory only two minutes into the game, and it was smooth sailing for their first FIFA World Cup qualifier

Bafana Bafana is notorious for losing, and they were placed in Group C for qualifiers in the Fifa World Cup. The group includes Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.

The South African team has to battle it out to be one of the nine African teams that will be at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Bafana is nearly there after beating Benin 2 -1 thanks to Percy Tau, and Khuliso Mudau, who scored his first goal for the national team. Benin’s Steve Mounie scored a goal in the 80th minute.

Despite lots of criticism, the soccer team got support with #BafanaPride on Twitter. South Africans have proven they will support their country even in tough times like Proteas’s semi-final CWC loss. South Africa hopes for FIFA World Cup glory

Springboks’ 2018 victory in the RWC left the country hopeful that other national teams would bring more trophies. Bafana Bafana’s first qualifier game against Benin left South Africans hyped over the possibility of SA’s presence at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
