A woman in Alberton Johannesburg, Nadine Terblanche, was murdered alongside her 9-year-old son Ruandré Vorster on 27 November 2023.

Pardon Danhire, a Zimbabwe national who was working as a gardener in Nadine Terblanche’s Randhart home, was arrested and charged with their murders.

Now authorities have arrested Nadine Terblanche’s partner, Freddie Stapelberg, who is due to appear in court on 15th January 2024.

Freddie Stapelberg charged with Alberton axe murders

Recent reports by Alberton The Record show that the boyfriend of the deceased appeared in the magistrate’s court for murder charges. According to the publication, Freddie was engaged to Nadine, who was found with her son and maimed with an axe.

In the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, he was charged with two counts of premeditated murder. He became the main suspect after Paul Danhire was arrested and widely reported as the main suspect.

The accused will be able to make a former beer application on 7 February 2024 and will remain in custody.

Many people on social media express their frustration with the initial reports of racially charged reactions. For now, both Paul and Freddie are under arrest for Nadine Terblanche and  Ruandré Vorster’s killing.

Paula Danhire’s race was used to pedal harmful rhetoric of “farm murders” as there were claims that Paul sang “Kill the Boer” at the murder scene.

The connection of the double homicide to the controversial chant is a claim many doubt following Freddie Stapelberg’s arrest.
