“I’m happy and I have money”: Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni slams doctor for spreading pregnancy assumptions

On 11 March 2024, South African Model, Radio & TV Presenter Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni took to her Tik Tok and instagram accounts to share a video addressing speculations that she was pregnant.

Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni is married to TV presenter and medical Doctor Musa Mthombeni. The couple have been married since 2021 and they celebrated their second wedding anniversary in August 2023. The former Miss South Africa and her husband have been one of South Africa’s most talked about couples in the year 2024.

On March 7 2024, the couple was once again trending following Dr Musa Mthombeni’s graduation from the College of Diagnostics Radiologists of South Africa. Dr Mthombeni shared photos of his graduation and expressed his gratitude to his wife for supporting him through his journey.

Alleged doctor speculates about Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni

Being a public figure and having a relationship in the public eye can often subject public figures to all sorts of intrusions and assumptions regarding their personal lives. Liesl had some strong words for those who feel they are entitled to make comments about her personal life and especially her womb.

In a video shared to Instagram and TikTok , the former Miss South Africa addressed a comment saying “she’s pregnant”. She began the video saying she could not believe posting the video was something she even had to do.

The comment was left by user @_tt_lady who’s profile claimed she was a doctor. Liesl addressed the comment by the alleged doctor saying:

“If you’re indeed a doctor and you’re commenting on whether I might or might not be pregnant…please do better”.

The former Miss SA continued to add that people need to leave her womb alone and leave other women’s womb alone. She also clarified that she is in fact not pregnant and people need to do away with the culture of “wanting to be seen” by being the first to reveal information about someone, even if it is not true.

It seems the assumptions about Liesl pregnancy are stemming from some recent weight gain, the model clarifies that she is aware of her weight gain and it’s because she is happy and has money. Moreover, she asserted that she is a 33 year old woman and has no desire to weigh the same weight she did in her 20’s. Liesl said:

“I’ve gain weight cause I’m happy and I have money.”
