The search for missing six-year-old Joshlin Smith from Saldanha Bay intensifies as it enters its 14th day, with Western Cape police urging the public to avoid spreading misinformation.

Various agencies, including the South African Navy and the City of Cape Town, have joined the search.

Despite exhaustive searches, Joshlin remains missing, prompting a concerted effort involving the South African Navy, the City of Cape Town, and specialized units.

The discovery of clothing items allegedly stained with blood has added urgency to the search. These items were found in an open field in Diazville, Saldanha Bay and have been sent for forensic analysis. As the investigation unfolds, hopes remain high for Joshlin’s safe return. Authorities and residents committed to leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to bring her home.

Joshlin was last seen on 19 February 2024. Brigadier Novela Potelwa, the Western Cape police spokesperson, highlighted their search operation, which has divided an identified area into zones for more systematic exploration.

The South African Navy and the City of Cape Town have dispatched resources, including drones and specialized search teams, to aid in the search. Additionally, detectives from the provincial office of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have joined local investigators in Saldanha Bay.
