“Nothing to celebrate yet”: AKA Kiernan Forbes Durban Shooting: SA hold off on praise as 7th suspect is apprehended

Durban KZN Police Commissioner revealed more information about the Kiernan Forbes (AKA) and Tebello Mostoane (Tibz) shooting on Florida Road.

Bheki Cele confirms that 6 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, including the two arrests made in Eswatini, but this has done nothing to ease the frustration of Tony Forbes.

The South Africa’s Police Service briefed the public on a video that can be found on the SABC News YouTube page and has since garnered comments from committed fans.

Kiernan Forbes (AKA) was the intended target according to Durban police

During a comprehensive briefing held in Durban, the KZN Police Commissioner made a revelation that confirmed a suspicion that most had since the incident. The commissioner asserted that AKA was indeed the primary target in the shooting incident. He further asserted that the involvement of Tibz appeared to be coincidental.

Eswatini 2 are part of 6 suspects arrested over Kiernan Forbes murder

Police Minister Bheki Cele provided additional updates, confirming the apprehension of six suspects believed to be connected to the fatal shootings. The suspects’ court appearance is scheduled for Thursday. The seven will face charges directly related to the tragic deaths of AKA, also known as Kiernan Forbes, and Tebello (Tibz) Mostoane.

AKA’s father, Tony Forbes has expressed palpable frustration over the lack of communication from law enforcement authorities. According to eNCA, Forbes underscored the importance of regular updates and transparency, stating, “I wish there were frequent updates from officials instead of politicizing the killing.”

South Africa’s Police briefing video and fan’s reaction

South Africa’s police commissioner provided more details on the arrests and confirmed the recent arrests made were in connection with the case. Fans were less than impressed with how long it had taken law enforcement to make an arrest. Watch a snippet by SABC News:

With @phindafuthimhlongo2624 stating:

“Protect Mkhwanazi at every cost I wish he could even fix the ballistic delays. In SA”

And @user-wj8vz7bo5c holding off on expressing admiration:

“We will congratulate them when they have finally been convicted… nothing to celebrate yet.”

While others demanded for information on what they assume is an assassination with @Loadedopinions saying:

“The truth is if the person who organised the hit has no personal or business links to Kiernan then he isn’t the man who operationalized the hit. Give us the link between the mastermind and AKA then we might talk”

And @TravelWithMe_111 demanding:

“Who hired the organiser of the hit?”
