“I no longer care what people will say”: Pearl Thusi achieves 10-year-old dream, DJs at Soweto Makhelwane festival

South African actress, model, and presenter Sithembile Xola Pearl Thusi, popularly known as Pearl Thusi was recently trending on X after videos surfaced of her D-Jing.

Pearl Thusi makes music debut in Soweto

Pearl Thusi recently completed a performance at the Makhelwane festival in Soweto. She says her DJ career is something she has been working on for over 10 years.

In those 10 years, the media personality admits, she was concerned about people’s opinions.

“I was always so worried about what everyone would say about this decision, for nearly a decade. Angisanandaba nezinkulumo zabantu (I don’t care about people’s opinions anymore. I practised until I couldn’t stand. I’m so happy because I overcame the fear of judgment, forgetting that only God has the right to judge me. I’m free.” She says.

The actress, now DJ, also shared her excitement about this new venture and says she cannot wait to see what the next few months of her life will bring her.

Pearl Thusi slayed as actress

Pearl Thusi has been in the film and television industry as an actress and presenter for over 10 years. In the last few years, she has been making waves in the film industry in Africa and abroad.

She is recently known for her roles as Dayana Mampasi in the ABC thriller Quantico, and as Samkelo in the romance film Catching Feelings. She also starred in Netflix Africa’s first original series, Queen Sono.
