NATJOINTS Fully Prepared to Ensure Safety and Security for SONA 2024

The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) has declared readiness to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2024.

Key agencies such as the South African Police Service (SAPS), State Security Agency (SSA), and South African National Defence Force (SANDF), NATJOINTS have meticulously coordinated security measures to guarantee a peaceful environment for all participants and residents.

South Africans weren’t impressed and took to X (formally Twitter) to challenge the notion that safety could be possible considering the state of the nation.

NATJOINTS has conducted regular meetings to strategize and implement comprehensive security plans in anticipation. These efforts encompass not only the protection of dignitaries and attendees but also the safeguarding of surrounding communities and businesses near the Cape Town City Hall venue.

SAPS patrol increase ahead of SONA

To ensure order and reduce commotion during SONA, law enforcement agencies under the leadership of SAPS have intensified patrols. They hope their visibility will deter and address any potential criminal activities.

The institutes will also remain vigilant before and after SONA. The City of Cape Town Traffic Services provides advance notice of road closures to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth traffic flow.

NATJOINTS underscores a zero-tolerance approach towards lawlessness and disruptions, emphasizing swift and decisive action against any breaches of the law. It is imperative for individuals without accreditation or authorization to avoid the vicinity of Cape Town City Hall on the designated day, 6 February 2024. Cooperation from all stakeholders, including residents and spectators, is crucial to maintaining order and security during the event.
